Is There Help
48Is there help?
Believe me I know all about how fast credit card and other debt can creep up on you. My husband, whom is 40 now, at the age of 39 had an unexpected thing happen. We were aware that he had been getting ill for 2 or 3 years and were trying all along to find a diagnosis. So there were all of those dr. and lab test bills to start. Then after 3 years and several drs. later we finally received the diagnisis we were waiting for. Or were we? We were certainly not ready for what we heard or how to "fix" the problem. I received a call saying that he had a left atrial/ventricle myxoma. What is that? Well, simply put it is a rare jelly like tumor that was growing inside his heart! I heard this followed by "Open Heart Surgery and "IF HE MAKES IT THAT LONG. HE IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE NOW".
OK, so he is the sole provider of our family and is going to be out of work for at least 12 weeks! (That is 3 mo.) We lived on absolutely NO,ZIP,ZERO,ZILCH,INCOME. Do you know that you are unable to collect any kind of assistance here in this state if you are off work for an emergency like this? I tried the social secutrity dept and ws denied, temporary food stamps? Nope, not in the righr income bracket! WHAT?? WE HAVE NO INCOME RIGHT NOW...Every where we turned it was a dead end. No, one wanted to help. I spent Three days straight on the internet trying to get assistance form someone ,anyone, and was denied at every turn.
So, since the bills would not wait and no one has any compassion or sympathy when it comes to debters... I turned to credit cards. Can you say $40,000.00???? Yes, that is right. I used to be one of those people that would ask" How and why would someone get that far into credit card debt? Well, now I realize that sometimes people are just trying to survive. Like we were.We had to turn somewhere to help us with that so, we turned to www.fix-credit-info.com. These people are there to help in many situations.
I have almost paid off all of the debt and hope to be done with this chapter of life in or around June!! With any luck.
Do not be ashamed or afraid. Just take the step and get the help you need.
Also, If you have an outstanding debt from a hospital, go to the financial counselors there. they are there to help you. In our case they forgave a BIG amount that was owed. They will figure it all out for you with a formula that they have based on your income. However, at this point I should tell you that IF they try to get you to go with the short form (just giving 3 mo. pay stubs) DON"T. Tell them that you would rather go the long form and submit w-2's and bank records, nad a letter of hardship. This takes a bit more work but will pay off much better in the end. TRUST ME... I KNOW...
Well, good luck in your ventures and I hope you gained some useful information. I wish I would have known this before. Please contact me if you need help or more information. I will be glad to help.

So don't know if I understood the time frame correctly, but you were able to pay off your debt in about a year? Just wondering how...(if you don't mind)
